Our Big Cut Red blend highlights the complexity and history of the Sierra Foothills. Big Cut, now commonly known as a road in Placerville that takes you through the twist and turns of downtown to Pleasant Valley Road, was once the name of one of the larger mines that utilized hydraulic measures to search for gold. Hydraulic mining later became highly regulated, as it was deemed very harmful for the environment, but the history of the Gold Rush still has its mark on the hillsides that were cut into centuries ago.
